- I don't recommend having the girlfriend. My husband and I had a mutual gay girlfriend that we were very close to and we had not been intimate with each other for quite awhile. He made the statement that if I needed to experiment and be with my girlfriend of over 30 years, then he would understand. FAMOUS LAST WORDS!!!!! It happened one time, I was not happy, but in telling him, he wasn't understanding at all, instead left me after 34 years of marriage. Be very careful. I am totally devastated, alone, feeling totally responsible, and am watching my life fall apart. Just so you know.
