Read confession
Sent to a friend I am a lawyer. Almost 10 years ago I represented a client in a medical malpractice lawsuit against a large and powerful healthcare clinic. However, I was being paid by the clinic to drain my client\'s assets with protracted litigation, furnish the clinc with recordings of all meetings and telephone conversations with my client and coordinate a dismissal of the case the day before the trial was to begin.
The guilt is almost overbearing but to seek forgiveness from him directly would be suicide for me and my career.
Will God forgive me anyway?

- Why I am not surprise I think most lawyers do that sort of thing anyway
- God forgives, but that doesn't mean you are off the hook. Some things are more important than a career.
- Thats a deep burden to shoulder. You can't go directly to him, but you can find ways to right the wrong through the community and in giving of your time (especially) and/or money to worthy causes.
- If you are afraid to confess to him you should make amens by working at a legal aid clinic. What you did is bad but its not the end of the world- I'm sure God will forgive you
- I personally think you should fess, move to Tibet, and spend a few years in an Ashram. You need to figure yourself out. Normal nice people don't do things like that.
- I don't know if you believe in karma, but whether God forgives you or not, in this life or the next, the misfortunes you bestow on others is like a rock you throw up in the air... it's sure to come right back down!
- no
- You are the reason that lawyers have a bad reputation!
God forgives everyone if they seek his forgiveness earnestly.
So your mistake has been made. Your right and that by telling your client the truth, you will commit professional suicide. So I say, take this opportunity and go forth to become the type of lawyer that you wanted to be. - No
- I'd bet my life that you voted for bush.
- My God, you are such a piece of shit. You owe this person restitution.
If you want to save your career, then do it anonymously but get them the money they deserve, plus what you STOLE from them.
What the hell did they teach you in ethics?
I hope to God you have learned from this. - Maybe you can try to make good by sending anonymous gifts / money
- No.
- dont worry about it (:
im sure he will!
x - God? Will you forgive yourself buddy? Fess up, lead the way, we've all got to get there one day. Lies are so ugly, they're our worst enemy. I'm so sick of my life being run by lies. And I'm sick of lying, feeling like I have to lie. Feeling like I have to present in a way that's 'acceptable'. But yeah, confessing may(or will? I don't know) anyway, may ruin your career, but it'll set you free. FREE I TELLS YA! (maybe) what do I know? Either way, good luck. Seriously, you're not so bad, just confused and easily misled like the rest of us bozos.
- God will forgive you: ask him. Don't worry but can you make amends in some way (a true test of real remorse): if you are a lawyer then you must be wealthy. Why not send this man a lump of money in secret. You can't really pay him what he was trying to get and you can't give him your house. How much are you worth? Could you give him 10%? Big firms act that way: if you hadn't some other lawyer would have done. You didn't do anything illegal: just unethical maybe? Big firms are scummy. You can't really confess these facts: it will do no good to him. He was beaten by a system. But 10% would be a genuine action. Hope you can have peace after that.
- i dont get it!! is that english?
- now that is disgusting thats about the most shamefull act i can think of i dont think any god could forgive you
- Don't do it. It was a long time ago. Plus you brought the gullt on yourself. So deal with it
- God's going to sit this one out.
- It's OK. I forgive you. Money makes the world go round. I understand. However, don't do it again
you may not get so lucky as to get away with it a second time.... - You're not responsible for the rules of the game, only how you play by them. You did what you were supposed to, so don't feel guilty, but there is nothing to stop you putting your skills to better use. Ever thought about changing jobs? Also, you could really help the other side of a similar case now you have this experience.
- what is more important to you?-your soul or your career. It is a funny thing about God, one He is in control and two, when you do the right thing according to Him, things have a way of working out. Sometimes God puts things on our heart as a way of getting us to make a change so He can redirect our life for the better. Sometimes He has a different plan than we do. Pray and ask Him to give you the anwer He wants, not what you want. May he bless you- I will say a prayer for you.
- yes, do not worry at the end of the day everyone makes mistakes. as long as you have learnt it was a worng thing to do im sure god will forgive you.
- No you are a dirty piece of shit and should fucking die without a cent to your name. I hope you get sick one day and they pull the same shit on you. And when you get to those ol pearly gates I hope saint peter pisses in your eye
- If you can't seek forgiveness from him, at least end your career. I'm not religious. I know of no god who will or will not forgive you. However, I do believe in karma. Your screwed. Perhaps you could try making money by exposing corrupt lawyers and health care clinics.
- Dude, I'm sorry but that's a direct violation of your lawyer's oath, not to mention you would get disbarred if that were to come out in the open. There are a lot of things I've done that I'm not proud of, but a violation of this magnitude is quite a bit greater than say, cheating on your wife, as far as I'm concerned. If I were your client, I'd sue you for whatever is reasonable and I'd sue the clinic for every red penny. Because you show genuine remorse, I'd just sue you for damages and the state bar would decide what to do next. As far as the clinic is concerned, they acted in an improper manner, willingly and knowingly screwing the plaintiff. But then again, I suppose you did too. I dunno, man.
I'm agnostic, so I don't know if this God is vengeful or benevolent, so I can't comment on that aspect. - nope you're screwed
- Your license should be revoked. That is a very unethical, malicious, and greedy thing to do. You are the type of person that gives lawyers a bad name. You deserve any repercussions that come your way.
- I hope not!
- could you send this person an anonymous email/note confessing to "wronging" him without actually giving explicit details or revealing your identity?
also, do some charity in his name or donate money in his name?
i'm sure God forgives all those who are truly remorseful. it's been ten years, you feel badly for it; you shouldn't have to live with this kind of guilt forever... - no
- That is so horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!
You know why they paid you off? Because they knew that if they didn't, you and your client would make A LOT more money the other way.
Definitely not worth it in my opinion. - As long as you feel sorry in your heart, he will forgive you.
- Nope
- no.
- if you want him to
- I believe it is between you and God as to whether you will be forgiven, ask yourself.
- wow good confession.
- no, God wont. Burn in Hell you fuck.
- I think it would be easier at this point to stop believing in God then to beg his forgiveness on this one. You know what the right thing to do is. However, if you have people who count on you (money wise) you could destroy them in the process. My advice is to 1. Stop being a corrupt lawyer. Right now, or quit. 2. Spend a lot of time thinking about all the things you can do to make other peoples lives better that doesn't have something in it for you. Maybe then you'll understand what it means to be honorable.
- yes
- Yes...you bastard.
- No, He wont.
- I can't judge as God but no, you have to confess to what youve done. Greed is one of the seven deadly sins after all.
- You are an asshole, my mother died as result of medical malpracice, and we entered a suit and to this day we have not even gotten an apology, can you forgive yourself?? how about sleep or even better yet DIE in peace, REALLY pissed.
- No
- The fact that you are feeling guilty mean that you have a conscience. I'm sure that you have paid the price already. You're absolved!!
- You're the biggest fuckhead ever.
- I hope not. Sorry ass snakes like you maked up most of the legal proffession...a bunch of legal whores.
- nope.
- I hope not... I bet he had a case he could have won.
I sure hope you take some of that money and send it to him. I bet you wont. - Tell him... let them pay him... I would have killed you...
- YOU SHOULD FEEL GUILTY. IT'S LAWYERS LIKE YOU THAT GIVE THE PROFESSION A BAD NAME. HOWEVER, REPENT AND ASK GOD TO FORGIVE YOU AND HE WILL. SPEND THE REST OF YOUR LIFE HELPING OTHERS AND DOING SOME GOOD IN THE WORLD.
- No. You're a money grabbung louse.
- NO YOU WILL GO TO HELL FOR THAT ONE OR WHAT EVER YOU BELIEVE ME.
- you owe that man the money he could have won, they money he paid you, the money they paid you and the time he spent working with you.
- No, you ruined a human being's life.
- God knows you better than you know yourself. Confession is a start. There is nothing you can do to hide. face the fact that you really screwed up.and make a committment to never allow it to happen again. Forget about cleansing your soul to this person. The damage is done and he is not going to forgive. God has the power to forgive. Your Christian up bringing is exactly what took you here and if you open your heart will take you out of here. Good Luck...
- No.
- Dude you were off to Hell the moment you graduated. Still, look on the bright side, all the fun people are missing in Heaven.
- nope. yer doomed. ha ha ha.
- You should be disbarred. I am a lawyer and it is people like you that give the rest of us a bad name. not only are you an ambulance chaser, but on top of that you were willing to be bribed. I think you should turn yourself in and get whats coming to you.
- no
- nope
- Wow. You're the Antichrist!
Can wee meet for lunch on Tuesday? - Suicide for your career?
How about suicide for yourself, you choose money over helping your fellow man, Judas.
- You better hope so
- I doubt it.
- No. You are a piece of shit. Your client was probably really hurt and you drained their funds.
I know there is a special place in hell for you. - Just imagine that had to happen to your wife or your daughter. It will... soon
- You have to find a way to make it up them and at least refund the clients money, and then some.
- aside from your legal obligation to your client, was he/she physically impaired by the malpractice? and did you see your client as a warm/kind/caring person? if so, the guilt must be killing you. only one thing 2 do, reopen the trial, admit you peversed the "natrual" course of justice and receive your "just" desserts. or, you could send your former client the amount they woudlve won had thye received a fair trial (remain annonomous though). afterall, what was the purpose of the malpractice suit? compensation (for the client) or suspension of business (benefits everyone)?
- Look up repentance, do what it says.
- No, God will not forgive you. You are going to Hell.
- God will forgive you, as he forgives everyone and maybe it would help you to know that in God's eyes, all sin is equal and we are all equal, so He doesn't see you any worse or any better than anyone else. He will forgive you, you just have to ask for it and genuinely be sorry for what you've done.
- God will forgive you,
but you should make ammends to that person.
Even if you can't tell them,
give back to the comunity instead.
you should probably go to a holy person to ask their advice.
- God only knows
- Yes, I think he will. But damn dude, that was pretty bad.
- I tend not to believe in the existence of a god. but you seem to be one of the hypocritical believers, so no. no he won't (unless your Christian, then just do penance and everything is hunky dory!)
- No... why should God forgive someone who CLEARLY works for the Devil?
The truth always comes out... watch your back - God forgives all sins. You need to forgive yourself and move on - that's the only way to cure guilt.
- no you fucking greedy bastard.
- No, you are scum.
- depends what religion you are and if your roman catholic have you confessed to a priest
- no - he won't. but since there is no god you needn't worry. accept that you did something wrong and move on. consider it a lesson learned. try to make up for it in some other way...
- What are you more worried about.. your career or where you're going to spend eternity?
But I think that if you are truly sorry and repent, God will forgive you.. but I do think that you do need to accept the consequences of your actions.
Hope that person isn't suffering too bad and only living off a 500 disability check. Think about that..
You took money that you did not need from someone who (depending on injury) may never be able to work again. I hope they aren't sitting at home wondering which is more important this month.. medication, heat or food.
Maybe you could just right this wrong by finding them and anonymously sending them some form of compensation... God will forgive you.. but can you ever forgive yourself? Find them, and do somewhat of the right thing and give them some form of compensation for what YOU did.
I'm just so appauled that some money is more important to you than justice... something you are supposed to be fighting for.
You may have ruined the rest of someone's life.. If you really felt that guilty, you would turn yourself in and do the right thing... but I don't buy that the guilt is that overwhelming considering despite it all.. you're still out for yourself and doing what would benefit you. - probably not. you should tell him. the only way to forgiveness is to confess.
- If there is a God, I hope He/She presses the "down" elevator button on you when Judgement Day comes!
- NO! You'll fucking rot in hell, you disgusting parasite!
- isn't that illegal? If not, I really need to keep that in mind when hiring a lawyer...
- God doesnt exist. Blow the whistle on your company and spend your life being happy and not so fucking career obsessed.
- seekin forgivness from him would only be to take away the guilt you are feeling, it would not make him feel better trust me. But dont worry god forgives everyone who is truly sorry.
- No. God will never forgive you. You have taken all the hard work and dedication that you put into becoming what you are, strangled it to the floor, beat it to the point of immobility, and defecated on it. Unless you come clean about what you have done, you will never be forgiven and you will forever burn in the pits of hell..
it's lawyer's like you that give the profession a bad name. It doesn't sound like you were forced to do this - you chose to do this - for the money. And I hope you see those people you were supposed to be helping everyday for the rest of your life. Those people were wronged, and did nothing to deserve your betrayal. You suck.- Just be a satanist. then you dont have to worry about forgiveness. it's a really cool religion.
- Only God will tell, but in the meantime devote your energies to repay one hundredfold the client you did wrong to. Probably the best method is to divulge what you did and seek compensation from the medical clinic and their insurer. Then spend the rest of our life bringing the insurance industry to its knees because of the disregard of their implied intent and purpose. The insurance industry spends far too much energy trying to get out of their reponsibilities of settling claims fairly and equitably. You should know by your own actions.
MAKE IT RIGHT NOW, you have the opportunity. - No, there is no forgiveness. What you did was wrong and you haven't got the guts to confess to the affected person. I hope that you suffer a slow and painful death.
- Nope. Have fun on this Earth while it lasts.
- HAHA lawyer's are douchbags....wow kill your self...no seriously kill your self thats messed up what your doing
- nope. not until you relinquish you ill gotten gains from sabottaging the case.
He trusted you. - God might, but st. peter will probably send you straight to hell
- Everyone knows lawyers are liers and cheats.. You must be an alright person to feel guilty about doing it. Just steer clear next time and fight for the good guys
- dickhead
- No
- Your gonna burn in hell, cocksucker. God will smite thee.
- God will smite thee
- Clearly you want someone to tell you it's ok you did this... but what kind of person could do this to someone else? You care more about your career and money than you do your own soul. What's the point in being a lawyer if you are going to sell out and let them pay you off. I hope your client finds out and you have the shirt stolen off your back because that's what you've done to this person who was wronged and deserved to be compensated by the company.
- You are scum. You should pay back all the fees you collected from this client and more. That is the only way you can resolve your guilt. Actually, you should rat out the clinic too. I am sure you could find a way to pay this all back anonymously.
- Ouch... just ouch. I knew I hated lawyers.
- Nope! You're a horrible and sorry excuse of a human being. Why would any living thing forgive you? You're a disgrace, but since you brought up suicide, you're only hope for redemption is to commit suicide. If you do it, I hope it's painful and that you suffer.
- No. But lucky for you there is no God.
- You're a lawyer, you won't be forgiven for anything you've done anyways, you'll have to argue your way through the pearly gates... PAHLEEZ! You've chosen law as your career, what makes you think it doesn't come with the territory? ha ha ha
- You should confess and expose the clinic. They might get in worse trouble than you. You might go to jail, but at least you won't go to hell.
- wow thanks
- NO! Not until you do what is right! You broke a vow and oath to your client and betrayed their trust. How has their life been since this event? I am sure God will make you pay in exactly the way you feel you deserve. You could... however make up for what you have done.... you know how.
- i hope not. you are a typical scumbag lawyer. the only way to make it right is to kill yourself, you fucking piece of shit
- Confess and expose the clinic now!!!!!!!!!!!! You might be able to collect money for your suffering!!!!!!!!!
- No one will forgive you.
Your God doesn't exist.
Your GREED however does.
Make amends or kill yourself. Pathetic f***.
-666 - There is no God.
You're an immoral, cowardly criminal and I doubt you could ever redeem yourself.
How do you look at yourself in the mirror every morning without wanting to shoot yourself.
The answer is clear: confess and pay. - God WILL NOT forgive you. You are alone.
